360° hand-drawn VR short film

“Fernweh Nach Innen“ - roughly translated into “Wanderlust to the inside” - is an  experimental 360° hand-drawn VR short film about migration and loss of identity.

The project presents the main theme abstractly and translates cultural affiliations symbolically through contrasting colours. Migration is translated into a journey through the universe, in space suits and on different worlds.

The apparent incompatibility of analog 2D and digital 3D art serves as a metaphor for the compatibility of different cultures and sets the interaction of these components in an exciting contrast. The technical realization was done by rendering in Blender and EEVEE with the experimental 360° add-on eeVR, converted to the drawing style with keyframes and ebSynth, interpolated with FlowFrames and enlarged with Topaz Video Enhance AI. Other programs such as Spatial Media Metadata Injector, FFmpeg and Photoshop were also experimented with.
